A Lifetime Dedicated to Helping Others

Ryan Q C Homes is more than just a name – it’s a tribute to someone very special. Our company is named in memory of Ryan, Laurie and Ray’s beloved nephew, who was born with a learning disability.

Although Ryan’s life was heartbreakingly short – he sadly passed away at just 19 months old – his presence left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. In his memory, and as a way of keeping his spirit alive, Laurie and Ray chose to name the company Ryan Q C Homes.

Every act of care, every life supported, and every milestone achieved through our work is done in Ryan’s honour. His legacy continues to inspire our mission: to provide compassionate, person-centred support that celebrates every individual and helps them live life to the fullest.

Our story is rooted in compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of adults with additional needs.

In 2025, Laurie proudly celebrates 50 years of dedicated service in the care sector — a remarkable milestone that reflects a lifetime spent helping others.

From Princess Marina to a New Beginning

Laurie’s journey began at Princess Marina Hospital, where she honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals in need of specialist care. When the hospital closed its doors, Laurie’s passion for caregiving remained as strong as ever. Determined to continue her mission, she and her husband Ray founded their own care service in 1998, driven by a shared vision of providing high-quality, compassionate support that upholds dignity and respect.

Opening Their Home – and Their Hearts

Laurie and Ray took the bold step of opening their home to adults with learning disabilities, creating a safe and nurturing environment where individuals could receive the support they deserve. Their home became more than a place of care — it became a place of belonging, empowerment, and growth, where every individual was treated with kindness, respect, and compassion.

Advocating Through Challenges

Over the years, Laurie has navigated the many challenges and regulatory changes within the care sector, always remaining steadfast in her commitment to those she supports. Her advocacy for adults with learning disabilities across Northampton has made her a trusted voice, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are protected.

A Voice for the Voiceless

Laurie’s mission has always been to amplify the voices of those who might otherwise go unheard. Through tireless effort and passionate advocacy, she has championed inclusion, dignity, and recognition for people with learning disabilities – influencing positive changes in policies and practices that continue to shape the sector today.

National Recognition for Outstanding Contribution

Laurie’s decades of dedication and unwavering passion have not gone unnoticed. In recognition of her lifelong commitment and the profound impact she has made, Laurie was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution Award at the National Learning Disability Awards – a fully deserved achievement that highlights her exceptional service to the care community. This prestigious award is a testament to Laurie’s influence, leadership, and the difference she has made in countless lives over five decades.

Celebrating a Legacy of Care

As Laurie marks half a century in care, Ryan Q C Homes stands as a testament to her lifelong dedication. From the halls of Princess Marina Hospital to a thriving, person-centred care service, Laurie’s story is one of love, resilience, and the transformative power of compassion.

Her legacy lives on in every life touched by Ryan Q C Homes – inspiring us all to make a difference and to continue building a future where every individual is supported to live with dignity, independence, and purpose.
